Coming of Age

Today’s society gives precious little time to honouring one of the most important transitions any person can make; that from being child to adult.

In women this is of course marked by the first blood or menarche, the onset of menstruation. In many western countries this is now largely ignored and shunned.

Happily however, this vital ceremony is now beginning to return to our consciousness. Vicky is honoured to offer this ceremony for mothers and their daughters together with other female friends and family.

Coming of age is a gradual process; it does not simply manifest with the first blood. There will have been signs for many months that you beautiful daughter is turning into a woman. However the ceremony itself will mark a gateway, the start of the journey and the initiation or the giving of knowledge of what it means to become a woman.

This is a wonderful opportunity to present you daughter with a special gift as they step into the adult world. It is especially lovely to hear the stories of their mothers, aunties, older sisters, grandmothers and friends. And thus wisdom is passed down the matriarchal line.
